Grand Rounds Vol 2 (25)

Rich is a paediatric nurse working all the way over in New Zealand. He is responsible for this week's Grand Rounds, the pick of medical blogging from New Zealand, the USA and around the world.

Nick Genes, an ER physician in New York, who writes Blogborygmi, was the orginator of Grrand Rounds. His interview with Rich can be found in the recent Medscape, here.

“The pediatric intensive care unit can be an intimidating place, but frightened parents and sick children can take a measure of comfort from PaedsRN, a PICU nurse in New Zealand. He writes accessibly and engagingly about his field on the Web site GeekNurse, a blog he created last year.
"I had always been frustrated with the lack of understanding out there about my own little corner of the nursing profession," he says. "In fact, I don't think my own family really understood what I do all day!"

Many of PaedsRN's didactic posts are geared toward educating families, featuring photos of the bulky, beeping machines that surround his small patients. PaedsRN is excited by the possibilities of combining his interest in digital photography with the opportunity to teach.”

Full details of the interview can be found here.

Rich writes Geeknurse. His full choice for Grand Rounds can be found here.
